About Us
Hurry The Food Up is a vegetarian recipe and meal-planning site run by a small editorial team that believes good food should be simple, affordable, and satisfying.
In 2025, we took over the site, kept the best of its recipes and tools, and refocused it around what matters most: straightforward vegetarian recipes, practical planning ideas, and an approachable voice you can trust.
Today, our focus is clear: free, trustworthy content that helps you eat well every day.
What is “Hurry The Food Up”?
We love food. We just don’t love faff. The name is our promise to cut the fuss and get you to the best bit — eating. We’re not aiming to rush you; we’re removing friction: fewer steps, smarter prep, flexible swaps.
We hurry the food up, so you can slow down and enjoy it!
Meet the Team

Chloe Manning, Editor & Recipe Developer
Part storyteller, part systems nerd, Chloe turns good ideas into weeknight wins. She plans like a pro, writes like a friend, and trims the faff so you get straight to the “yum.” When she’s not testing a 20-minute skillet idea, she’s roaming local markets or rolling out a yoga mat.
Superpowers: clear instructions, smart swaps, foolproof timing
Current obsessions: sheet-pan dinners, market-fresh pesto, “use-it-up” lunches

Nick Chambers, Test Kitchen Lead
Nick fell for veg cooking backpacking through India—and brought that bold, no-fuss energy home. He breaks cheffy moves into doable steps and coaxes big flavor from pantry basics (hello, crispy chickpeas). On weekends, he’s tinkering with vintage cookware or clocking a long run.
Superpowers: step-by-step coaching, cast-iron mastery, balance of protein/fiber
Current obsessions: smoky spices, quick marinades, freezer-friendly prep
Our 4 principles
We want to make sure everything you find on our site is worth your time. These principles guide what we publish at Hurry The Food Up.

1) Evidence over hype: We follow mainstream nutrition guidance and avoid fads or miracle claims. Nutrition info is an estimate for guidance—not medical advice—and we’re clear about our sources and limits.

2) Plant-forward, flexible, real: Vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds are our starting point. We include eggs/dairy when it makes sense and offer vegan and gluten-free swaps wherever possible.

3) Cookable in real life: Recipes are tested in home kitchens with normal gear, pantry-friendly ingredients, and sensible prep times. We favor overlap (shared ingredients), leftovers, and budget-aware tips.

4) Reader-first and transparent: We’re a content-driven site: no pay-to-play, no hard sells. We disclose partnerships, correct mistakes quickly, write in plain language, and design for accessibility (clear labels, alt text, inclusive tone).
How we create our meal-planning content
We don’t sell meal plans. Instead, we publish free, flexible planning hubs you can mix and match:
- Beginner — gentle on time and budget; pantry staples; repeatable wins.
- Weight loss — lighter, high-fiber meals with satisfying portions and simple snacks.
- High protein — vegetarian proteins (tofu, tempeh, legumes, eggs/dairy) with macro-aware structure.
- Vegan — fully plant-based collections with straightforward swaps and proteins.
- Gluten-free — naturally gluten-free recipes; always check labels if sensitive or celiac.
When we build a planning article or collection, we aim for:
- Cohesion. Overlapping ingredients to reduce waste and cost.
- Reality. Leftovers, batch-cooking, and “choose-one” options for busy days.
- Seasonality. Produce that’s easy to find now (with freezer-friendly alternatives).

Editorial standards & transparency
- Independence. If we ever use affiliate links or accept a sponsorship, we’ll disclose it clearly—and it never affects our verdict.
- Corrections. If something’s unclear or off, tell us—we’ll fix it.
- Accessibility & respect. We aim for inclusive language, alt text for images, and readable layouts.
Tools we keep (because they help)
- Protein Calculator: a practical tool for estimating daily protein needs and planning around them. Try the calculator.
- Easy Vegetarian App: browse recipes, save favorites, and create shopping lists on the go. Learn about the app.
